Gewurztraminer Vieilles Vignes 2016

Taste

The dress reflects a beautiful golden colour with beautiful tears.

The nose is open and fruity with hints of honey and candied fruits (quince, citrus fruits . . . ).

In mouth, the attack is beautiful and pearlante, with notes of candied fruit and vanilla aromas. The mid-palate is sweet and on the freshness of the grape variety. The tasting ends on a very slight note of bitterness, bringing character to the finish.

To drink now for its extraordinary fruit or to forget in your cellar for at least a decade.

Gastronomy

This wine will go perfectly with foie gras dishes or aromatic desserts such as chocolate for example. It can also be served as an aperitif for pleasure.

History

The Gewurztraminer is a particularly aromatic selection of an old grape variety known from time immemorial in Alsace, the Traminer rose. In the past, and especially when its wine was a little less characteristic, it was known as Traminer. Etymologically, the name Gewurztraminer literally means "spicy" Traminer.

Its grains are quite small, pink-brown in colour, and the skin contains constituents with very full-bodied flavours. It has found its favourite terroir in the Alsatian vineyard.
