A family farm

Nestled in the heart of Kintzheim (Bas-Rhin, Alsace) and at the foot of Chateau Haut-Koenigsbourg the wines Jean-Marie Koehly were born in the late 70s.

Family, this is the watchword of the operation. It has been three generations that the family Koehly operates vineyards. Initially, in 1930, our family was not only specialised in grapes and wine. In those days, our farm was based on mixed farming, vineyards, tobacco and livestock. At this time we had 50 acres of vineyards and the entire crop was sold to the cooperative winery. In the years 1964 - 1965, we were already producing wine but all of our production was sold in bulk.

It was in 1970 that the family farm has really specialised in viticulture and wine production in Alsace. In 1976, Jean-Marie Koehly settled within the family farm.

Initially with the 2.5 hectares of vineyards, the family Koehly was able to increase the vineyard operation to reach 23 ha at present.
