Muscat 2020

Taste

This Muscat is part of our flagship and is adorned with a light straw yellow colour, almost clear. Very aromatic nose with a pronounced musk note, it exudes a bouquet of fresh grapes, and subtle aromas of elderberry flowers.

This paradox often strikes Alsatian wine lovers: firstly because it is dry, which distinguishes it from sweet Mediterranean type Muscat and secondly because of its refreshing fruity taste.

Gastronomy

Thanks to its dry taste, Muscat truly opens the appetite during an aperitif. It is also popular with fresh asparagus. It may also accompany tarts with raspberries or red currants.

History

Muscat is an ancient grape variety of Alsace, Alsace Fischart our great poet spoke of this in the 16th century.

The Muscat grape produces beautiful white or pink grapes according to the two varieties planted in Alsace. Muscat is a blend of Muscat Ottonel, early variety Chasselas to give the wine body, and Muscat d'Alsace in small grains, a later harvest, for its aroma. This is the most difficult grape to produce as it’s sensitive to climatic hazards.
